Art in my childhood home: I was surrounded by a variety of art pieces growing up. The work later informed my creative expression as well as a desire to create. The setting, clothing, and style suggest it's a celebration of everyday life, labor, and community, inspired by African culture. The art in my childhood home is still an inspiration to my present-day work. Importance of representation and visibility.
